Here are a few of my fellow writers and friends; a more varied, madcap, intelligent, diverse, romantic, hardworking, dejected, elated, spontaneous, talented bunch of writers you won't meet this side of St Albans!

An actress turned writer, author of Red Ink and The Big Lie and founder of The Berko Writers' Workshop, it's Julie Mayhew.

Leigh Russell is the bestselling author of the DI Geraldine Steel crime novels. It's criminal how good she is!

For the true romantics out there, Verulam Writers' Circle's very own historical fiction author, Jenny Barden!

One of the most exciting new talents in science fiction writing around today and an old school friend of mine. He may live down under, but his writing is always on top...form! Meet Greg Mellor.

Mark Billingham is a stand up comedian and bestselling author of the 'Tom Thorne' crime series of novels. He's a thoroughly nice chap to boot!

MG Harris (the MG stands for Maria Guadalupe) is the bestselling children's author of The Joshua Files and Gemini Force series. Witty, intelligent, a superb writer and good looking to boot - but enough about me - MG's all those and more!

Sophie King (aka Jane Bidder) is the bestselling mum-lit author of five novels (including The School Run), a non-fiction and short story writer, successful journalist, tutor, and even the writer-in-residence at a male prison. Apparently, she's pretty good at multi-tasking too!

VWC Chairman and author of some damn good short stories and other tales. He's tall, he's a writer, he's... Dave Weaver!

Some say he's spaced out, some say he's out in space. Either way, it's Toby Frost and the ubiquitous Space Captain Smith!

Jonathan Pinnock is a short story writer and competition winner and author of Mrs Darcy Versus the Aliens. His stuff is so off the wall it floats in mid air!

A fellow VWC committee member who writes rather racy and entertaining gay romance. She's hugely successful in her genre, it's Anne Ellis - aka JL Merrow.

Serial blogger and author, she's witty, insightful and has some good advice for all budding writers. It's Lynne Blackwell.

The artist friend who breathed life into my children's characters through his wonderful illustrations. Part time special needs teacher and fabulous artist who now specialises in printmaking, it's the one and only Nick Wonham.

With his astute writer's intuition, this fellow's critiquing talents are as numerous as his media contacts. His writing's very good too! It's Mark Clementson.

An ever-smiling ecologist, writer, photographer and VWC colleague. It's Sandra Norval.

Author of contemporary fiction that blends past and present, it can only be the superb Geoffrey Gudgion.
