Epilogue - A Happy Ending

That's the commercial realism ending, but is there a happy ending? Of course there is. You may not be on the shelves of Waterstones, but you're still a writer and you can end your story however you want.

Your book demands to be read. After all, that's the real reason you wrote it. So print a few copies for your family, email it to your friends, post it on your website, enter it in competitions, or even self publish. Let people read it for themselves and tell you what they think. If the feedback is not good then move on and write a better one.

And don't forget you are still a writer. With all the emotional highs of your trade waiting at the tip of your pen: that initial tantalizing wriggly worm of an idea that grows into a story, the exhilaration of your plot unfolding in directions you never expected, the moment when your characters surprise you, and the thrill when a well chosen word gives life to your prose. Writing is in your blood now. You'll struggle to find adequate time for it moving forward, but you'll never completely give it up. For the simple reason...

...it won't let you.
