Chapter 9 - Coursework
Next

The Open University has several excellent writing courses. They're online so you won't be confronted by follicly challenged tutors, and your fellow students will come from all backgrounds. E.g. the retired professional writing his life story, the full time mum wanting to exercise her creativity, and the psychopath who always writes in lower case with no punctuation and creates short stories where most of the plot is in her head and how dare you criticise my work you obviously dont understand it or me you fascist sexist illiterate banker

Top Tip: Use a pseudonym online, and go ex-directory just to be sure.

Attending a creative writing course locally not only helps you retain the power of speech, but also provides useful writing therapy in times of motivational uncertainty.

During your courses, you will come to an important conclusion. You write, but you don't know how to write proper. Don't worry about this. That's why you're doing the courses. Just make sure you finish them before you begin your next rewrite. Oh, and store those four agency rejections for future reference.
